Montana is truly the last, best place for missions in North America. Our prayer is that you “Catch the Vision” of what God is doing in Montana. In our area we have come across several families who have never owned a Bible and some who have never attended a church service. They speak the same language we do, their kids go to the same schools as ours, but the presence of the Gospel is absent. At times, it’s hard to believe that a community can be so spiritually dry and still be in America. The people are very receptive to the Gospel, they just haven’t heard it. We are praying that God would send workers into His harvest in Laurel, Montana!
Reaching Our Community
Sports Camp - Last year we registered 610 kids at the Sports Camp. This year we anticipate 800 kids attending the camp. During the camp, the children rotate through three different sports each day. The sports include baseball, basketball, volleyball, soccer, kickball, football, and frisbee. For a break, all the kids come to Huddle Time with Pastor Greg. During Huddle Time, the children are taught a short Bible lesson using illusions and object lessons. The Gospel message is explained throughout the week and presented on Thursday. Easter Egg Hunt - Imagine 3500 people pouring into a football field for a citywide Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by The Rock. This was the case for the past three years. The families that attend are registered and contacts are made to those who have no church affiliation. There is a great need here since we have limited people to do the follow-up.
Neighborhood Block Parties - The sunny weekends in Laurel bring families out to neighborhood parks. We are looking for partners who are willing to assist us in hosting block parties in the park, where we set up inflatables, popcorn, snow-cones, and cotton candy in an attempt to start a small group Bible study in that neighborhood in the near future.
Men’s Ministry - There is a need for Men’s Ministry in Laurel with opportunities such as fly fishing, hunting, hiking, mountain biking, snowmobiling, and horseback riding. This is a great time for mission partners to team up with someone from our church for a great time of mentoring and relationship building.
Women’s Ministry - We have many stay-at-home moms in Laurel. The opportunities are endless for those who would be interested in Women’s Ministry. These opportunities include Girl’s Night Out, Bible studies, Pampering nights, Mentoring, Women’s retreats, etc.
Leadership Development - Many of our mission partners have specific gifts and abilities that can be shared with the members of The Rock in a conference-style setting.
Evangelism Training - First generation Christians in Montana struggle at sharing their faith. Mission partners can come alongside a new believer and encourage and train them to share their faith.
The Partnership of a Lifetime
As you can see, The Rock Church urgently needs mission partners who are willing to serve God with us in Laurel, Montana. This can be done in four ways:
Pray - Please consider joining The Rock prayer team. You will receive regular updates and prayer requests to lift up on our behalf.
Participate - Consider spending a weekend, a week, a month, or even the summer in beautiful Laurel Montana, ministering with us.
Provide - Make a one-time gift or a monthly pledge of financial support. (Since we are reaching unchurched people, tithing does not come early on in their discipleship growth process.)
Partner - Make a 3-5 year commitment to partner with The Rock Church.

"The Rock of Laurel is one of our newest churches in Montana. Planter/Pastor Greg Payton came to Laurel with a God-given vision to start with a focus on reaching the unchurched and spiritually lost. Overcoming great obstacles and great spiritual darkness, Greg has stayed faithful to the vision while holding firm to sound doctrine and Southern Baptist faith and practice. Under Pastor Greg’s leadership, they have touched the lives of many adults, teens and children in Laurel. Our mission in Montana depends heavily on the prayer, partnerships and participation of other churches. I can wholeheartedly endorse the ministry of The Rock of Laurel and ask that you will prayerfully consider becoming a partner with us in Montana."
